  1. Love the discussion/ idea/ possibilities. I love metaphor but perhaps a magic type of realism removes any metaphorical mirror. But how can that be if magic realism is metaphor. Well. maybe the discussion isn’t about one idea of magic realism.

    • I am suggesting that ‘metaphor’ implies distance and observation, while existence implies presence, where there is no metaphor. It follows that metaphor belongs to the critical world, where it does good service, but not to the world of writers, as it distances them from what they know and what they need to know. Best, Harold
